The photo series "Eyes Shut Twelve Times" features people with their eyes shut. The portraits installed in groups and occasionally standing alone were made with simple photographic devices. The photos were taken at different times and places, including studio shots as well as a face lit by a projector. This series of shut-eyed portraits resembles a collection of facial expressions, referring to the creative process of conceptual art, which is based on collec-ting. Addressing photographic commonplace with irony, the series uses a minimalist approach to establish and show the problems and possibilities of reception, remoteness, defenselessness and introversion.
